Filmmaker-director Raf Monserratte and writer-actor Troy Hall join Brad Shepard in a conversation about the Amherst Cinema’s world premiere of their new film, “The Dissection of Thanksgiving.”
The film is about a family meeting in 1980s Buffalo for Thanksgiving and their having to come to terms with some funny but also heartbreaking challenges… and even a few surprises.
Rafael Monserrate was born and raised in Amherst, Massachusetts. He is an award-winning director and producer who began his career as an actor for stage, film, and television. Since 2010, Monserrate has produced over 10 cable network series, including the Emmy-Award Winning OUT OF THE WILD (Discovery Channel), WHALE WARS and IVORY WARS (Animal Planet). Rafael is an Executive Producer on History Channel’s new hit series ALONE and is currently casting his next feature film.
Troy Hall is a writer and actor. His acting credits include ANOTHER WORLD, THE FAMILY MAN, TOWER HEIST as well as a number of well-known commercials including ads for Cheerios, Miller Lite, AT&T, and most recently, Heineken Lite with Neil Patrick Harris. He has also voiced characters in video games including Red Dead Redemption, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the soon-to-be released Walking Dead 3. Hall founded the internet sketch comedy group The Adult Table which has been featured on Funny Or Die. He directed, edited, and wrote most of their sketches.
